What IS Spam? * 12/12/11 Update!*

[color=Blue]What is spam? Many players, including myself, have spammed one point or another. I'm sure even a Super Mod has spammed before. But hey, we learn from our mistakes! This will make ALL the Mods jobs easier. As I member, we should all be helpign the moderators out![/color]

[u][b][color=Red]Type of Spam?[/color][/b][/u]

[b][u] Emote Spam:[/u][/b] This is where you creat a post with nothing but emotes.
[b][u]Nonsense Spam:[/u][/b] This is where you make a post that doesn't make sense. Example: "usdfb weofh nalufh"
[b][u]Posts that are made in Languages other than English:[/u][/b] Outside of the sections made for other languages, these posts are counted as spam.
[b][u]Irrelevant posts:[/u][/b] These are posts that have nothing to do with the thread in question. (This includes hijacking someone else's thread)
[b][u]Short answer posts:[/u][/b] Posts that are less than 1 sentence long. For example: saying thank you, I love you, or posting something that consists of less than 5 words.
[b][u]Spamming for credits:[/u][/b] Posting just for the sake of getting credits is counted as spam.
[b][u]Posting pictures, links and/or videos:[/u][/b] Outside of the Chat Zone, if the video/picture/link is not relevant to the thread, it is counted as spam.
[b][u]Repeating a post:[/u][/b] Posting something that someone else has posted before you.
[b][u]Necro-posting:[/u][/b] Bad enough to get a rule on it's own, however it is still a form of spamming, no matter how relevant the topic is. Exclusions for this would be threads in the off-topic section. (Necro-posting is posting on a thread that hasn't been posted in for a few weeks)
[b][u]Polls:[/u][/b] Voting in a poll without giving reasons for your vote can be counted as a form of spam.
[b][u]Hiding: [/u][/b] If you hide teh main point of a thread just to keep it bumped, this is counted as spamming. Jus let it sink, if you want it to stay alive, ask a Mod to bump it!

All of these Types of spam will be deleted. To help the Mods out, click teh report button at the buttom right hand corner of each post.[/color]

Yes, That is spam. I only included most of teh spam issues.

Voting in a poll without a reason is more necro-spamming (and an annoyance) if it's done with a bunch of old topics. But if they do not post you cannot tell who did it.  /yct58

PS: Hiding option is not always spam. Sometimes people make posts with hiding option to avoid the general public from seeing something and making it only for higher ranks or Moderators. Admins and Super Mods can see any hidden thing. Only those topics like you mentioned where the author made it just to force people to post and see the hidden stuff can cause spam. ;) But for those topics the author does not set credits. They set it as "Content will shown upon replying." so any rank can view only after they post.

Hotaruchi ( WL Super Mod ) Sid she can see the people who voted without them commenting.

Yes, Blue, Hotaruchi, burzel are all SuperMods . Gvantsa is an ex mod of the WL Forum. I thoguht all Supermods can see the poll

Yes polls show a bunch of people who voted. Would be hard to see which ones are the ones voting for credits and which ones are voting honestly though ;) One could only make assumptions.

And yes I was a Mod then Super Mod on the WL forum and briefly a Mod on the Altis Gates forum in the past. But all things come to an end. I moved on from IGG games to other ones. And yes I was too busy to take good care of the Forum.

I'd say spamming is saying (writing) irrelevant and annoying texts, possibly repeatedly. That doesn't only apply to forums, as the "short sentence spam" or the "necro-posting" you mentioned. It is just as annoying in in-game chat. Such as several people on the WLO-chat speaking in tagalog on world. The "selling this and that" posts are annoying too, but far more are the tagalog-posts.

Do you play on the US or EU servers? WLO can't make a server for each indivulal language. Tagalog players are allowed the chat on world chat. Also, Selling/Buying shouts aren't that back, only if they use cap all the time/yct73
