[Guide] Tactics for Commanding Battles

[Guide] Tactics for Commanding Battles

To know how to efficiently command a battle you first must know the strengths and weaknesses of troops. Here is a list of the base stats for the troops of each race.

Notice that some troops are ranged and some are not. Also notice that each troop has either higher magical or physical defense and can only attack either physically or magically.

All battles are turn based and the turns are decided by troop speed; the faster the troop the sooner it will get to go. To win a battle with minimal casualties you must first eliminate the troops that will do the most damage to your armies, and the first round or 2 these will be ranged attackers. Every race has one magical and one physical ranged attacker and the melee units are split up at a 2:1 ratio with their attacks. All abbey troops will be magical attackers and all barracks troops will be physical attackers.

Battle Round #1

Since we are trying to eliminate your opponents ranged attackers the first couple of rounds we have to find out which of the 2 units to attack. Every race's fastest unit will be their ranged magical unit so that will be their first attacking unit. Physical ranged units have high physical attack but very low magical defense. Since they can do a lot of damage but can be wiped out pretty easily they will be your magical units first round targets. Your only other troop type that will be able to do damage to your enemies the first round is the ranged physical attackers, they are slow units and will most likely have taken some serious damage by the time it is their turn to attack. Using whatever units you have left you will want to attack your opponents ranged magical troops (the only exception to this is if you are fighting a shaba and they have a big stack of axemen left, then since sorcerors have extremely high physical defense and really low magical defense you will want to hit the axemen with your physical attackers and start your second round attack from your magical units to go after those sorcerors).

Battle Round #2

The second round of the battle your opponents faster melee troops will be able to start reaching you so now you must throw them into the equation. You now must look back at the stat chart and reassess which troops can do the most damage to you. Now you must find out those troops weakness; each troop will either be vulnerable to physical or magical damage. The chart will show you which have higher physical or magical defense. Here is a visual example of clerics and archers attacking infantry and armored infantry.

Notice how the Archers did more damage to the Infantry than the Clerics? and how the Clerics did more damage to the Armored Infantry than the Archers? This is because Infantry have higher magical defense than physical, and Armored Infantry have higher Physical defense than magical. To win battles with low casualties you will need  to use the method of attacking troops vulnerable to physical damage with physical attacking troops and troops vulnerable to magical damage with magical attacking troops. use this method to fight rounds 2 and on of your battle and you will be a top player in no time.

Blocking a Ranged Attacker

Ranged attackers can only do efficient damage from a specific distance (too far a distance or obstacles like castle walls will reduce their maximum damage)their melee attack is horrible so if you can get one of your troop stacks to melee attack a ranged attacker you will basically make that unit worthless until it can manage to kill your melee unit (which probably wont happen)

True Stats

As I mentioned before the stats above are only base stats and they can be boosted by a heroes skill points, armor, and a castles defenses. To check out what a units true stats are just move your cursor over its picture on the top of your battle screen.

Hero Spells

Your Heroes agility determines when he will go in a battle. on your heroes turn he can only do one thing, cast spells. To cast spells click on the button on the bottom left of your battle screen which looks like a fire. A Spell Book will open and you can use whichever spell you want.
Notes: Each spell has a different amount of time for its cool-down period (amount of time before you can cast another spell) and you can only use spells which your hero has purchased in the Black Tower.
